Thanksgiving Safe Foods for Your Dog
Everyone deserves to celebrate Thanksgiving with a feast - even your furry friends! Check out our list of Thanksgiving safe foods you can treat your pet with this holiday.
Turkey!
Make sure it is fully cooked and unseasoned, and also be sure to remove the turkey skin and any bones before feeding!
Sweet Potatoes
Fully cooked and unseasoned sweet potatoes are a great healthy and tasty treat for your pup! They are also “a great source of dietary fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and beta-carotene!” (1)
Potatoes
“You get to enjoy both kinds of potatoes, and your dog can have that option, too. However, give only boiled or baked potatoes with no seasoning or toppings” (1)
Apples
Making Apple Pie? Treat your dog to some apple slices, maybe even add some peanut butter - yum!
Pumpkin
Pumpkin itself is a very healthy snack. It helps with digestive health and it’s great for a dog’s skin and coat. Also, if feeding canned pumpkin, make sure it’s just pumpkin and not the pre-spiced pie mix.” (1)
Green Beans
“With ample amounts of plant fiber, manganese, and vitamins C and K, plain green beans are great for dogs. The key here, as with turkey, sweet potatoes, and other options mentioned in this list, is the bean dish should be plain—without added ingredients like butter or spices.” (1)
