Licks Tips: Keeping your Pets Calm on New Year’s Eve

New Years Eve can be a crazy time! Here are some tips to keep you and your pets at ease and help reduce stress during those midnight fireworks.

  1. Use Licks ZEN Calming Aid!

New Years Eve is the perfect time to try our Calming Aid if you haven’t already! Administer 1 packet about an hour or so before the fireworks are expected to start. This will help to ease the nerves and keep them calm for up to 6 hours, so they can sleep through the night! Additionally, since our product is 100% all-natural, it is safe to increase the dosage as needed!

  2. Complete your walks earlier in the day

If you need to take your dog out during fireworks then it is recommended to go for walks at times when it is still relatively quiet. This might mean a longer walk or a trip to the dog park to get their exercise out! Try to complete all walks before sundown to avoid being outside during any early fireworks as well.

  3. Stay Indoors

New Years Eve can have a lot of craziness going on outdoors. Try your best to keep all pets inside for the evening and close all of your windows to reduce outside noise.

  4. White Noise Machine

If you have to leave your pets at home for the evening, use a white noise machine to try and drown out the sound of fireworks so that they are not startled at home on their own! These sound devices provide calming noise. Depending on the device, you can choose between rain, water fall and wind noises to help minimize the noise of the fireworks. (1)

  5. Make Sure they are Microchipped

Believe it or not, pets are more likely to get out and go lost on holidays like New Year’s Eve. Avoid panic by making sure your pets are microchipped ahead of time so you can know their whereabouts. It is also important that your dog wears a collar and tag with your contact details. (1)
